Summer Counselors at Hearts & Horses will be paired with a participant for the duration of the week and help teach them the basics of overall horse care, grooming, safety and riding. Counselors will assist participants in mounted and unmounted lessons, and encourage their participants develop horsemanship skills. Counselors will act as horse leaders for participants who are beginners and will assist instructors with activities when their participants are independent.

Counselors must attend a training that will be scheduled in May or June. At training, you will learn the specifics of how to make our participants have a great and successful week with us! This training will also count as your volunteer orientation, side walker, and horse leader training for year round classes at Hearts & Horses.

• Must be 14 years of age
• Must have extensive safety knowledge
• Must have general horsemanship knowledge (ex. grooming, tacking, riding)
• Must have own transportation
• Must be able to commit to at least one full week – Monday- Thursday (8:45 am – 3:15 pm)
• Must have application materials submitted by deadline
