Development Manager (may include evening and weekend hours)

Hearts & Horses is hiring a Development Manager (DM)  to advance our mission, vision and strategic priorities. The DM is responsible for implementing a development and fundraising program to provide for the short and long-term needs of the organization. An individual who will succeed in this position will be an innovative, self-starter who can manage multiple, complex projects and be able to deliver quality results in a fast-paced, team environment.

The purpose of this position is to ensure that Hearts & Horses interactions with our donor community have a consistent, positive, and professional brand throughout all communications and fundraising efforts. The Development Manager will work in partnership with the Development & Communications Director to build and implement the organization’s overall development strategies. S/he will build strategic relationships with individuals, foundations and companies to secure a diverse and sustainable revenue stream.

This position is tasked with managing a fundraising infrastructure within the organization that engages various departments, board members, and advisors to help H&H serve their mission long into the future.

Compensation/Benefits:

Ful Time/Exempt Position. Benefits include 80 hours of paid vacation, 48 hours of sick leave and 80 hours of paid holidays. Remote work eligible after a probationary period.  Inspirational and fulfilling environment working together with an amazing staffing team. Salary Range of $22-$25 commensurate with experience.

On-Site PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor Internship (may include evening and weekend hours)

Hearts & Horses is hiring a paid intern who will live on the property and is certified as a PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI), providing therapeutic riding lessons to participants  that are safe, effective, enjoyable, progressive and challenging, as well as supporting equine care and ranch operations. Applicants must hold PATH Intl. certification at the Registered, Advanced or Master level and are responsible for ensuring Hearts & Horses follows PATH Intl. Standards for teaching and safety.

Compensation/Benefits:

$14.42 per hour depending on experience. Housing provided. Inspirational and fulfilling environment working together with an amazing staffing team.

Work Hours:

This is a part-time position. Specific days and hours of work are assigned by the Program Director or Program Manager.

Qualifications:

  • PATH Intl. certified instructor at the Registered level or above. Applicants without a CTRI may be considered if they have experience teaching or coaching able bodied riders at an advanced level
    and they are willing to complete the certification process while interning at Hearts & Horses
  • Has current Adult, Child & Infant CPR, First Aid, & AED certifications
  • 5 years equine management experience. Strong horsemanship, horse handling, riding/training
    and management of equine emergencies
  • Supervisory experience with volunteers.
  • Strong technology skills, including; MS Office suite, Google technology and data entry skills; Salesforce a plus
  • Actively pursuing a relevant secondary degree, such as Equine Science, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Health & Exercise Science, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a casual but busy work environment.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Supervisory experience with volunteers.
