NARHA Registered Instructor Workshop & Certification

Hearts & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center is hosting a NARHA Registered Instructor Workshop & Certification October 17-19, 2008.

WORKSHOP – October 17-18 (Limited to 20 participants)

The two–day workshop is open to anyone who wants to learn about therapeutic riding or to improve his or her skills as a therapeutic riding instructor. Fee is $375 for NARHA members and $420 for non-members (you will receive a one-year membership in the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association-NARHA). This comprehensive workshop will enhance the knowledge base of therapeutic riding instructors and is a pre-requisite for the NARHA Registered Instructor Certification. The workshop is also useful for individuals seeking to learn more about the field but who are not yet ready to complete the certification process.

CERTIFICATION -- October 18 (evening) -19 (Limited to 10 participants)

The certification component of this workshop provides participants an opportunity to complete the NARHA registered Instructor criteria. The Certification is open to 10 participants who have completed a 2-day NARHA Instructor Workshop (during this offering or at a previous workshop) along with all other certification criteria. At the end of the day on October 18, candidates will be given their riding tests and draw their teaching assignments for Certification on the 19th. Fee for Certification is $175. To register for the certification, you must send your Confirmation of Instructor-In-Training status letter from NARHA with your Intent to Attend (see attachment). On certification day, candidates will be required to prepare a lesson plan and teach a class of two disabled riders who have mild physical and/or cognitive disabilities.
