SUMMER CAMP

Children have been enjoying summer camp at Hearts & Horses since 2002. Each week of camp is tailored to meet the needs of the participants: those with solid equestrian skills are challenged to learn more and to share their knowledge with others; while first-time riders gain confidence with the help of our experienced instructors, dedicated volunteers, and well-trained horses. Hearts & Horses also offers two All-Abilities weeks, bringing together children with and without disabilities.

What does Summer Camp cost?

Camps fill quickly! We encourage you to register as soon as possible. Camps cost $325 per week before April 1st (Early Bird rate!) or $350 per week after April 1st.

What is the daily schedule?

Weekly sessions are Monday-Thursday, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Students do a variety of ground work and mounted work each day with the horses.

Is lunch provided?

All campers need to bring their own lunch and 2 snacks. A refrigerator and microwave are available for Summer Camp.

What else does my camper need to bring?

Water bottle, sunscreen, a hat. An old shirt for painting in. Please label all items so they do not get lost! And most important- Bring a desire to have fun and learn!

Does my camper have to wear a helmet?

Each rider is required to wear an ASTM–SEI Certified horseback riding helmet. Hearts and Horses have helmets of all sizes available for campers to wear if they do not have their own.

Are there any payment options?

You may choose the Partial Payment Option, which is $225 per camp/camper at the time of registration to secure your spot, with the remaining balance due by April 1st.

What is the deadline for registering for Summer Camp?

All paperwork and payment must be received by May 22, 2017.

What is the Horse Show?

Each week ends with a Horse Show where campers show off what they’ve learned! Horse Shows are held on Thursdays at 1:30 pm, last about an hour, and are held in the McKee Arena. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Campers can be signed out after the Horse Show has ended.

What should my camper wear?

Long pants, close toed shoes (preferably a boot with a heel). Clothing gets dirty in the barn! Please wear things you don’t mind getting dirty! Bring a sweatshirt/rain coat.

Can I get a refund on my Summer Camp fees?

All refunds requested up to 4 weeks prior to the start of the scheduled camp week will be charged a $75 cancellation fee. Any refunds after 4 weeks prior to the start of the scheduled camp week require a documented illness or injury and will also be charged a $75 cancellation fee.

How do I sign up a camper with disabilities for All Abilities?

Hearts & Horses is proud to partner with Respite Care for our two All-Abilities Camp weeks. All campers with disabilities should contact Respite Care for more details.
