INTERNSHIPS

Hearts & Horses provides a variety of internship experiences based on a prospective intern’s area of interest and/or academic program. Internships are centered around the mission of Hearts & Horses, but include a wide variety of opportunities, such as client interaction,  volunteer and nonprofit management, equine welfare, event management,  marketing and fundraising, and more!

ON-SITE CTRI (Paid)

Expand CTRI skills, responsible for equine care, ranch operations, and instructing tasks. Housing provided.

Hours: 20 a week (including evening and weekend); Semesters: Spring, Fall or Summer (up to 3 per semester); Existing CTRI Certification Required

PROGRAM SUPPORT

Work directly in our programs with riders and horses to experience the therapeutic riding environment. Housing optionally provided.

Hours: 5-40 a week; Semesters: Spring, Fall or Summer (up to 5 per semester)

EQUINE CARE

Support herd management, equine care, and training for a herd of up to 35 working equines. Housing optionally provided.

Build relationships and support volunteers through the volunteer management cycle, from recruitment to appreciation. Housing optionally provided.

Engage our local donor community through marketing, social media, and other initiatives to support the Annual Lucky Hearts Gala. Housing optionally provided.

3. Visit the Ranch:

Meet with us for an interview prior to being offered a position as a Hearts & Horses intern.

4. Complete Paperwork:

Complete the Volunteer Paperwork below. You will also receive a link through Sterling Volunteers to complete a Volunteer Background Check. If your educational institution requires any paperwork to confirm your internship, it should be completed at this point.

5. Complete Training:

After accepting an internship position, your intern supervisor will determine the amount of training needed before starting, including creating your weekly schedule.

6. Get Started:

Show up with a smile and go-get-em attitude on your first day!
